Using Testing Strips For Control Your Diabetes Can Greatly Assist With Your Disease

When my father got diagnosed with diabetes, he sat me down for a long talk so that I’d know exactly what was going on. He went over how to Control your diabetes, Monitoring Blood Sugar, and Monitoring Blood Sugar. He showed me Testing Strips and how to use them for Monitoring Blood Sugar.
My father said he wanted me to be ready in case I ever got diabetes myself. Logically , I informed him, “I don’t want to come off rude dad but this is about you, not me. I’m fine, my sugar is fine. ”
Then my father said that since I’m his son I might have a better chance at getting diabetes than people with healthier parents. I know about diabetes so I told my dad that he has type1 diabetes and the only type of diabetes that goes from generation is type two and that skips one generation when it goes down the lineage of one’s family . Nonetheless , good ole’ dad persisted my knowledge of diabetes control . Maybe someday I’d know someone with diabetes or be married to someone like that or have a child that’s diabetic. Finally, I relented. I supposed it wouldn’t be a bad thing to know about Testing blood sugar and everything that comes along with diabetes . How would I feel if something happened and my father needed help and I had no clue how to help him? I should know what I was doing if that was the case.
My father nodded sagely and ensues to tell about his extraordinary diet, what he was eating, how he was working out, and how he was keeping fatty and sugary foods out of his diet . My dad never considered eating healthier or working out as a younger guy . He ate what he wanted and whenever he wanted and it all took a toll on him as he grew older.
He used to go to the health club a lot when he was younger, if only just to swim. Ultimately , as he grew older , he confessed he’d tuned out to be lazier and lazier and the frequent visits to swim were few and far between . Soon he stopped going altogether, but his eating habits only became worse.
Ice cream in the middle of the night? Why not?
A couple of chocolate bars to get him through the day at work? Sure.
An extra helping at dinner? And then another? Then what about that pudding for dessert? How could he say no?
It was no shock that he’d gotten diabetes. What it simply came to was the fact that he hadn’t taken care of himself.
Unfortunately that wasn’t the end of him telling me about diabetes , no, sir.
He made me watch him as he checked the glucose in his blood. He pricked his fingertip and dripped blood onto a Testing Strips. He said Testing Strips were a good brand, but I didn’t even know there were brands for diabetes Testing Strips. After pricking himself in the finger he put the thing into the monitor , which told him what his blood sugar level was .
It was all so easy . If I ever am diagnosed with diabetes I will know what to do and how to do it . In reality , I could potentially help my father out with the task . After all, regardless of anything else, he is my dad .

Improved Diabetes Care Products Offer Hope for Children and Their Families

(FocusPharmacy.com Pens Agreement with Diabetes Sentry Products)

HORSHAM, PA (July 2008) – Focus Express Mail Pharmacy, a leading on-line pharmacy specializing in diabetes care, announced a renewed distribution agreement with Diabetes Sentry Products, Inc., a life-saving portable device manufacturer, to continue to help children and their families manage the complications of diabetes. FocusPharmacy.com will feature Diabetes Sentry’s newly FDA approved product, the Sleep Sentry, which alerts people with diabetes of impending medical complications associated with diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes, a rapidly progressive disease which currently affects 2 million children nationwide, is steadily rising among young children and adults. Little or no insulin, a hormone necessary to convert food into energy, is produced in the pancreas in a person with Type 1 diabetes.

Research conducted on Type 1 diabetes shows that the mortality rate of patients with insulin-dependent diabetes increases dramatically after 15 years of suffering with the disease. With the cost of healthcare rising, many diabetes sufferers are now cutting back on their medications, increasing their chances of developing additional and potentially fatal medical complications. To date, diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death by disease in the United States, killing close to 200,000 people each year and roughly 665,000 new cases of diabetes are diagnosed annually with recent trends showing no signs of stopping.

“Although more has to be done to diagnose diabetes in children in a timely manner and give them adequate care, rising health care costs coupled with caring for a young child proves to be a tough challenge for many caretakers”, says Joel Shpigel, R.Ph., CEO and Co-founder of Focus Express Mail Pharmacy. “It is important to Focus Express Mail Pharmacy to provide patients and caretakers with this life-saving technology that while necessary is affordable and can ease some of the difficulties of managing diabetes.”

Diabetes Sentry re-released the Sleep Sentry, a portable device worn around the wrist at night to monitor the temperature and moisture of the skin while sleeping. If a hypoglycemic reaction occurs during sleep, the skin will get cold and moist (cold sweat) setting off the Sleep Sentry alarm and waking the patient. Hypoglycemia affects most, if not all, people with Type 1 diabetes and can become a medical emergency if not treated in a timely manner. It can lead to a prolonged unconscious state, permanent brain damage, or even death. Some research estimates that between 4 and 13 percent of the deaths of people with type I diabetes results from hypoglycemic events. This new FDA approved model provides monitoring that people with diabetes need while sleeping.
