Our family used this very intensely for a period and it was very useful. I think it is good for certain ages – maybe ages 5 to 10. The most radical idea I learned is that sending a kid to their room (if they get a “3″) was a form of discipline. This book was a good investment for us. I have to adjust discipline methods over time, but 1-2-3 is in my toolbox now. My new method if they get a “double” is to make them do chores around the house (cat litter, toilets, garbage, or weeds).
While I have not yet finished this book and begun using this discipline method, some of my friends have, and they have had success. The book is easy to follow, and slightly humorous which is great for me since I am struggling w/the “terrible two’s”. I am looking forward to beginning using the suggestions in this book with my little girl!
I gave this book to my adult children, parents of a 2 year old. They read it with great interest and immediately started to put into practice some of the 1-2-3 methods described in the book. They said it is amazing how they work, and diffuse much of the tension in dealing with a normally stubborn 2 year old.

The book is great at helping you get your household organized so your kids know how to behave. It has helped me with one of my children. You still will need to have someone help you through issues that are unique to your house hold.
The author is humorous which is a plus. The technique just works … seriously .. like within days I saw huge improvements in obedience, voluntary behavior. Accordingly, we had more fun together.
