What To Look For When Purchasing a Vacuum

Vacuums are available in many types, so you do need to consider certain features to keep confusion at bay; the most important consideration being your purpose for getting the vacuum. Where will you use the vacuum? What is the main purpose of the vacuum? This will give you an idea whether you need a small vacuum or a larger one. Special shop vacuums are available for use at shops. For now, let’s assume that you need the vacuum for cleaning the house.

Plain filters and Hepa filters
Vacuums with hepa filters have an advatageous feature of removing the air particles before they get back in your house. However, according to the manufacturer’s recommendation, you will need to replace them regularly, and they are a bit spendy as well. This feature is apart of a few canister vacuums as well but you have to check out the manner of attachment of the filter to the vacuum to make sure it’s easy to use.

Performance and power
The basics of power are summed up below:
Amps – The amount of current which flows through the vacuum
Watts – The amps, when multiplied with the power voltage drawn, gives Watts.
Mostly all of the upright cleaners are 7 amps to 12 amps, while the canister ones are commonly 12 amps, which are the maximum permissible amps for a vacuum used at house. More amps does not mean better operation, and there are other components of good operation as also, which are listed below:
• Filtration and flow of air: How the air is filtered and how easily it passes depends on the filters of the vacuum and the integrity of the dust bag.
• Suction motor: Most of the vacuums have two or three fans working simultaneously, which provides for greater power for suction. The design of the nozzle and the quality of the hose can influence suction as well.
• Brushes or power bar: Brushes that rotate can improve efficiency by collecting articles difficult to remove from the ground.

Types of the vacuum

There are upright vacuums and canister vacuums available in the market. If your vacuuming is mostly on one level, upright is good. If you have some physical handi-caps in lifting and bending, then they can be of use. But canister vacuums will give you more independence when it comes to maneuvering around the tighter spots. For example, if you want to clean an entire staircase, then canister vacuums are ideal, since standing vacuums have certain limitations. Besides, it becomes difficult vacuum on a staircase.

Vacuum with or with no bag?
There are a bunch of standing vacuums which come with no bag. This can be a good option since it will save money on buying of bags. If some important tiny items are accidentally cleaned up by the vacuum, they can be easily gottten back in a bag-less machine. But if you decide to buy a vacuum with a bag, then buy a few of bags for the future as well.

The upright vacuums cover a large area for cleaning as compared to a floor attachment or a power nozzle. The vacuum must have an indicator which tells you when the dust bag is full. The warranty supplied by the manufacturer must also be checked. These components can considerably influence your decision while purchasing a vacuum.
