My childern were in a toddler bed until about 2 1/2. We then purchased a twin mattress and bed with adjustable rails for either side to prevent the child from rolling out during the night.
By age 4 years, the rails can be removed as long as the child is comfortable with that.

my son is 6 and still sleeps with the quilt that was made for him when he was a baby...I have had to repair it twice...even though it is a crib size quilt, he still cannot go to bed without it.....I wouldn't worry about it...buy the quilt....

3years old, but the blanket makes a nice car blanket or, something to take to the movies or any place where you might be out late and the child may fall asleep before getting home. My youngest is 3 and we keep a baby blanket that has animals in bright fun colors around for cuddling on the couch and all sorts of things.

You can keep them in a toddler bed as long as they are comfortable with it. It would be a pretty big child to be too tall for a toddler bed and by then they can let you know if they want "out". You can always take the quilt to a consignment shop when you are done with it and get a few bucks out of it!

My daughter is 4 and still in a toddler bed, I say around 5 or 6 then move to a big bed. it all depends on how long and heavy your child gets. my son is 2 and in a toddler bed. but i dont think my daughter will be in a toddler bed much longer she is almost 4 foot tall if not already

baby/toddler need to be out of a crib when they start trying to climb out becasue then it's dangerous to be in a crib

i was in a regular bed at 3 but that's because we moved but i did fine in it

my daughter is in a transition that is currently a tot bed and will become a regular bed when i put her down in one place and she's still in the same place when i wake her up

You aren't going to want to hear this...especially since you already bought a convertable crib. But what I have personally found was the easiest thing to do is to skip the toddler bed. Put a twin or full sized mattress on the floor and decorate the room like a regular room. Make sure you put rails on the bed too. As the baby gets older, you can add the box spring and eventually the "wooden bed". Some furniture places even sell full/twin beds that are specifically for kids and you can raise them higher and higher off the ground. Don't waste your money on toddler bed items...they will be out of it in no time flat.

I started both of my girls on a mattress when they were 10 months old. They didn't sleep beneath the covers until about age 2...but slept on top the bed with blankets on. I had their room completely baby-proofed and kept a night light in their room and just shut the door. At first, it was a novelty and they would get up some times and wander...but they always went back to their mattress to sleep.

4-5 years old depending on the childs growth. My six year old could easily still fit in toddler bed, but she is very small for her age. However, I did find that my kids slept better in a twin bed. The plastic toddler mattress wasn't as comfortable as a twin and it squeaks because of the plastic. We moved our three year old to a twin bed for her third birthday and she has done great and sleeps like a rock.
